Withania somnifera is an annual shrub in the Solanaceae family. This plant has pale green flowers and orange-red fruit. Medicinally, W. somnifera is considered to be an adaptogen, which means it helps the body manage stress. W. somnifera is claimed to help lower blood sugar, lower cortisol levels, help with anxiety and depression, as well as improve brain function. Hardy to zone 10-12.
Plant Withania somnifera seeds 1/4" deep in well draining potting soil. Keep the soil moist but not soaking wet and around 70°F to 80°F for best results. Germination typically takes 10 to 12 days.
