Gibbaeum heathii is a dwarf perennial succulent flowering plant in the stone plant family, Aizoaceae. Gibbaeum heathii is native to the Western Cape of South Africa and grows in stony arid areas. The plant has two grayish green 1 inch long succulent leaves that are dichotomous. Flowers grow apically out between the leaves and are white to pale pink. It is grown as an ornamental plant for its drought tolerance and long lasting flowers. The plant thrives in well draining soil growing in full sun to very partial shade. It is a winter growing plant and should be adequately watered during that time. Watering should be heavily restricted during summer. USDA plant hardiness zones 10b to 11b.

Gibbaeum heathii seeds require consistent moisture and humidity to germinate, but soil should not be soaking wet. Cloning boxes, ziplock bags, and other containers that retain moisture are ideal to store sown pots. Use a well draining sterilized potting mix. Seeds should be sown on top of potting mixture and lightly covered with a thin layer of sand or potting mix, just enough to cover the seeds. Germinating pots should be kept indoors out of extreme light and heat. Ideal germination temperatures range from 60°F to 80°F. Germination typically takes 2 to 4 weeks to occur. Even with optimal conditions, germination may be slow and sporadic.
