Cereus peruvianus also known as Cereus repandus, Peruvian apple cactus, hedge cactus, giant club cactus, and more.  Cereus peruvianus is a large species within the Cactaceae family. Native to Peru but now naturalized across Central and South America. It can grow up to 33 feet tall with stalks of over 6 inches wide.  This cactus has deep green to blue-gray stems with short to medium length spine sets. Many variants exist, some with no spines at all.  The flowers protrude outward and are a large fragrant white bloom.  The sweet mild fruits can be between red and yellow in color and are a regional favorite. The stem and core have traditional uses in local medicines, foods, traditional construction methods and more. C. peruvianus is most commonly grown as an ornamental or living barrier plant. Cereus peruvianus grows best in USDA Hardiness Zones 9-11.

Cereus peruvianus/repandus seeds should be spread across a sterilized cactus substrate mix. Cover the seed with a thin layer of substrate mix and mist the surface to settle down the soil and seeds. Cover with a humidity bag, dome, or plastic wrap. Place in a warm area with partial shade.  Seeds will germinate best with high temp in the day and low temp at night. Seeds should germinate within 7-20 days. Mist or bottom water when the soil is almost dry.  Even with optimal conditions some seeds may be slow or sporadic in germination. Place established plants in full sun to partial shade. Too much shade will make cactus and succulents etiolate during growth.
