Passiflora subpeltata is commonly called white passionflower. It produces yellow-green fruit. P. subpeltata is native to Central America. The plant is considered to be toxic to humans and livestock if consumed in sufficient quantities. Unlike other Passiflora species, subpeltata is not edible.

Passiflora seeds contain a hard outer seed coat which can reduce and slow germination. For best results, scarify the seeds by scratching the outer surface with a fine grit sandpaper or nail file, then soak the seeds for 24-48 hours in lukewarm to slightly warm water. After treatment the seeds should be sown between 1/2” to 3/8” deep in a well draining potting medium. Germination can take awhile and be sporadic, taking anywhere from 10-350 days. Properly treating the seeds prior to germination will greatly speed up germination.
