Ficus benjamina, also referred to as the weeping fig, or simply just as ficus, is a tree in the fig family of Moraceae. F. benjamina can grow nearly 100 feet tall at maturity and are commonly grown both indoors and outdoors as ornamental plants. Ficus benjamina produce a latex sap that can cause allergic reactions for people who have latex allergies. F. benjamina is a forgiving species, tolerating poor growing conditions well, making them excellent plants for beginners and are hardy to zones 10-12.
Plant the seeds ¼” deep in a well draining potting soil. Keep the soil moist, but not soaking wet and keep between 70°F to 80°F for best results. Germination typically takes between 15 and 95 days. Even with optimal germination conditions, germination may be slow and sporadic.
