Eucalyptus pulverulenta is a woody evergreen perennial member of the myrtle family, Myrtaceae. E. pulverulenta is commonly called silver-leaved mountain gum and is native to Australia. The tree can grow up to 16 and 30 feet tall. The bark is smooth and grayish brown with oval to egg-shaped leaves. The leaves are grayish green and oppositely arranged. Blooms occur during spring and are composed of sparse clusters of yellow stamens with an orange stigma center. Eucalyptus preissiana is grown as an ornamental plant for its showy yellow flowers and tall trunk. Established plants thrive in full sun and well-draining soil. Water adequately when soil becomes dry. USDA plant hardiness zones 9a to 11b.

Eucalyptus pulverulenta seeds should be surface sown and lightly watered or misted into a well draining potting mixture. Lightly add a thin layer of the potting mixture over the sown seeds, making sure light is still able to reach them. Store seeds indoors or in a shaded area and keep the potting medium moist but not soaking wet. Ideal germination temperatures range from 75°F to 85°F. Germination typically takes 1 to 3 weeks to occur. Even with optimal conditions, germination may be slow and sporadic.
